Nestled between Metropolitans Baltimore and Washington, DC, the location of St. Matthew House is adjacent to the open-air Kings Contrivance Village Center, providing residents with the opportunity to shop, bank, socialize, and generally carry on the activities of daily life.

The architectural design of St. Matthew House resembles that of it's neighbor, Amherst House, with it's large inner atrium,
open spaces and entry, all providing much natural light throughout the three floors of the house.  A front porch, as well as open
and enclosed patio areas, enable the residents to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors.

Howard County's barrier-free, fixed route, public transportation stops at the Kings Contrivance Village Center.  Additionally,
St. Matthew House residents are elgible to participate in the county's para-transit system which provides door-to-door service.
The available transportation services provide access to areas within the county, but also by connection, to the neighboring metropolitan areas of Baltimore and Washington, DC.  All these factors make this site an ideal neighborhood for persons with
physcial disabilities.
